L'avis du Guide Michelin
Set into the hillside, this house was built for a Lancashire industrialist around 1860 and is surrounded by terraced gardens and woodland. Original features include a wood-panelled former billiards room, which now acts as the drawing room; follow this through into the restaurant, where you'll find the best seats are in the conservatory. The cooking has a contemporary look and shows an impressive amount of restraint, which gives the main ingredient of each dish the room to shine.
